Alaska Cruise (June 2025)
If I only had 1 word to describe this entire trip, it would be breathtaking. The scenery was more beautiful than words can truly describe. When people say Alaska is a bucket list destination, I now completely relate to that feeling. There’s nowhere else quite like it.
We started off our journey early in the morning at Pittsburgh International Airport. This was a bittersweet moment for us because by the time we go on our next vacation, the airport is going to open their new terminal, and nothing will be like it has been for so many years. But you’re not hear to listen to me reminisce about the airport, you want to hear about Alaska!
So, this cruise is porting out of Seattle, Washington. The flights there were smooth, with a brief stop in Denver. This was my first time flying over the Rocky Mountains and it was crazy to look out the window to see the snow-covered peaks below. I’m not used to seeing snow and ice in June!
When we got to Seattle, we didn’t really have a plan on how we were going to get from the airport to our hotel downtown. I had seen many people talking about the local subway/train system, Sound Transit Link Light Rail, and after a quick search, realized that it would be the most cost effective and probably quickest way for us to get into town. It only costs $3 per adult for a one-way ticket. The only struggle is getting luggage on and off so keep that in mind if you’re a heavy packer! This train took us about an hour and dropped us off 1 block from our hotel.
Since we flew in the day before the cruise, we had all afternoon to explore the city. And of course, we had to check out Pike Place Market
